Shame is a wasted emotion: turn every defeat into an evolution

Captain Australia’s Crime Fighting Journal, Entry#25 Running in Disguise

Captain Australia Theme Song

Honestly, I’m somewhat shocked by how my fitness has declined.  You see, although I train almost daily, it’s basically focussed on strength development, and keeping my martial skills sharp.  The amount of weight I’ve gained has just slowly crept up on me.  I won’t compromise my secret identity any further than to share that I have an infant son, and with the late nights and irregular eating, I just hadnt noticed the weight piling on.

Thismorning my weight was 100.9, down from 102.6k : which is quite simply embarassing.

But I’ve realised that I have to be a hero.  I have to turn every negative into a positive, overcome every obstacle.  So today, my videographer and I went to a nearby park and spent about 2 hours doing cardiovascular exercises – running, sprints, stepups.   Some of the video documenting my efforts is pretty bad, but it only serves to motivate me to work hard and turn this around as quickly as possible.

In particular, at one point I decided to run up and down one of the steepest hills in Brisbane, and I actually had to pause mid-way to vomit just a little bit.

Anyway, I feel good having completed the session, and will take a moment to acknowledge my training activity this week (in lieu of any crime patrol):

Monday: early morning resistance training (chest), 7k morning jog, 7k afternoon jog

Tuesday: early morning calisthenics, 7k morning jog, 7k afternoon jog

Wednesday: early morning resistance training (biceps & triceps), 7k morning jog, 7k afternoon jog

Thursday:early morning calisthenics, 7k morning jog, 7k afternoon jog

Friday: early morning resistance training (back & shoulders), 7k morning jog, 7k afternoon jog

As you can see, my intended schedule is fairly heavy.  I will honestly post any deviation, but I fully intend to commit to the schedule above, which has me rising at 6am to work out, running into work, running home from work.  (Saturday & Sunday I’ll reserve for rest & recovery).
