Open Letter from Captain Australia (the Real Life Superhero) to the People of India

by Captain Australia on February 5, 2010

Dear People of Indiaserious left

I am Captain Australia, the Real Life Superhero.

I would like to address the recent spate of violent crimes directed against Indians living within Australia.

I’d urge you to consider for a moment that these criminal acts are not racially motivated.  What we’re seeing is a criminal minority expressing their emptiness and hate, and they just happen to be directing it toward the most readily available and undefended target.

They perceive visitors to our fine nation as exposed, less defended than a citizen.  They are cowards of the worst sort and must be defied with all our vigor.

Australians are generally not racist.  I cannot compromise my secret identity by giving detail, but I work closely with a half dozen people of Indian heritage, from a diverse range of backgrounds and belief systems.  They are a wonderful, deeply courteous group of people, and it is my privilege to be able to work with them.

I’d ask you, don’t turn your back on Australia, our countries have a history of great friendship, and we should not allow such a beautiful relationship to be tainted by the actions of a disgusting, cowardly minority.  Join with us and help us solve the problem.

I cannot deny that racism does exist here.  I am gravely concerned by the level of xenophobic behaviour that I see around the world today, and the tendency of both parties to pull away from each other.  The only way to address discrimination against other cultures and religions is to embrace them.

For my own part, if I ever learn of an Indian person being assaulted, all they need to do is contact me, I will work with them to heal that has been done, and ideally bring the perpetrator to Justice.

If I can help you in any way, you only have to ask.

Your Friend,

Captain Australia
