Captain Australia, the real life superhero, patrols the notorious red-light district of Kings Cross, Sydney

Captain Australia’s Crime Fighting Journal, Entry#44

Captain Australia Theme Song

_MG_8092The video sequence below documents my evening patrol of Kings Cross, on the 27th of January 2010.  This depraved part of Sydney is a dark place, and the thing that concerns me the most is that the people passing through it just don’t seem to understand or see just how bereft and barren it is.  (Or their apathy allows them to shield themselves from this harsh fact).

Prostitution, drugs, homelessness and a consistent low level of depression and human suffering are all obviously interwoven into the tapestry of colourful locals.  After the patrol, I find myself re-evaluating my goals from a new perspective, driven by the basic questions, “How do I help people who don’t even care ?  How do I fight crime when criminality is everywhere ?”

I’m afraid so, citizen.
The prostitute was indeed transgender, I’m afraid that many of these people find themselves compelled into prostitution – whether to fund surgery, or to find a superficial acceptance of their social/gender role.
I’m glad she didn’t get angry at me, I wouldnt want to wear a punch from that burly shemale.
Your friend,
Captain Australia

Hello Captain Australia

I am a fellow Australian RLSH and I have only just stumbled upon your existence. I have to say that I find your costumed persona a little… colorful; but each to their own. I patrol the East coast of this country, having started in the movement whilest living in Brisbane, Qld about 2 years ago, and am currently patrolling such drug-torn areas as Newcastle and Sydney (and everywhere in-between).

If you ever find yourself in the Newcastle area, send me a communique and perhaps we can patrol together; That is unless you would find it embarrassing to patrol with a grown man dressed as an owl ;)
