My answer is fairly simple: you don't choose inspiration. I can't really explain or justify why I started walking this (admittedly strange) path, but when the inspiration struck me, it was a similar experience to holding my firstborn son - like light in a darkened room, suddenly everything was very clear to me. There could be an even simpler answer, mate: maybe I am a bit of a looney ? Personally, I think not, but self awareness isn't high on the list of psychotic's qualities. And for my part, I'm not convinced that a policeman's job is any safer than what I do. My justification of what I do is also simple: I may make a fine teacher, policeman or counsellor (or I may not), but I'm trying to be an exemplary Captain Australia, and I do feel that this hero identity has more potential to reach a broader range of people. My target is the guy sitting at his computer, abusing and stalking people online, his life an empty shell, filled with isolation and apathy - I want him to find Captain Australia, recognise my seriousness, agree with my assessment of the state of the world, and realise that he can be part of the solution too.
