Captain Australia’s Crime Fighting Journal, Entry#48

Captain Australia Theme Song

After the assault last weekend, I’ve been thinking a lot about why I am doing this, reconnecting with my core reasons.  (Which is, in part, why I’ve been thinking so much about the past, and wrote down the first few chapters of my life story).

I’ve also been throwing myself into my training.  With my videographer still unable to walk normally, there will be no patrol this weekend, I thought I would update you on my training progress.

As you can see from the video below, late last year I realised that somehow I had become tremendously overweight.  It kind of crept up on me, to be honest.  After leaving the military (more than 10 years ago now), I stopped attending my various martial arts and boxing schools, and started teaching.  With the reduced activity, I guess I just slowly ballooned out, kind of like Elvis in the drug-and-booze latter years.

(Not that I’d have the nerve to compare myself to Elvis)

(Oh, lets face it, I’m much cooler)

Anyway, since the start of the year I have been training hard.  I’ve lost 10k so far in 2010, but still have 10k to go before I am at peak fighting fitness.  (Which I will then maintain for the rest of my life).  Below is a video I took when the realisation hit me about how much weight I’d piled on, and next to it, a training session taken today.

I’ll keep you updated, based on progress so far, I expect to achieve the end goal before the end of March.
